Tenzing was conferred with medals and honors by leaders around the world – the prestigious Padma Bhushan and the President’s Gold medal from India, the Nepal Tara (Star) from King Tribhuvan, the prestigious George Medal and the Coronation medal presented by Queen Elizabeth II, the Tiger medal from the Himalayan Club. They can be viewed at the family residence in Darjeeling as part of his extensive and historical private family museum which also includes valuable items from his historic climb.
