In 2015 a devastating 7.8 Earthquake struck Nepal causing great destruction to life, property and the local economy. The village of Thame which was the most affected in the Everest region has deep ties to the Tenzing family as childhood home of Tenzing Norgay and birthplace of his wife Daku (mother of Norbu, Jamling, Deki and Dhamey).  The family along with friends of the family who were concerned about the impact of the earthquake immediately responded to help the people of Thame and neighboring villages to get back on their feet and rebuild their homes and lives.  We worked with the local community, reputed NGO’s, local experts in Nepal and through the support of family friends were able to provide direct relief, help with play a part in rebuilding the Thame Monks Hostel, Thame School Hostel as well as the rebuilding of a Buddhist Stupa.
